Running in the Rain

I don't think there are weather conditions I dislike running in more than rain. Light snow is pretty fun. Heavy snow - well, then I hit the treadmill. Humidity can be controlled by the time of day I decide to kick myself out of bed and run. But rain...it's rarely bad enough for me to run on a treadmill instead. The drops hitting against my legs or my face are irking. I don't really like running in the rain, but it's just one of those things you do when you run.

So...I've been on the running trail, starting up training not soon after I completed the Philadelphia Marathon. In 2 weeks from today I'll be hitting the race course again, running the Lehigh Valley Half Marathon. I will be joined by high school tennis doubles partner, Tina, as we run through the beautiful Lehigh Valley Parkway and bring it home with a stadium finish. It should be exciting.

Right now, I am beginning to taper and enjoy preventative icing. I tweaked my IT Band during my 8 mile run on Wednesday, but it felt good during my run today. I keep telling everyone - my goal is to run the entire race with a smile. I'm not going for a certain time and I have no desire to race 13.2 miles in pain - but I want to enjoy the whole run. If you weren't enjoying it, why else would you do something so crazy?

And for now...14 days until the Half Marathon.
